After feedback from you guys, I’ve made some tweaks to the site and hope that you like them. You can now easily see the latest deals in each category, and it’s easier to ignore deals from categories that you don’t care about. If you “don’t” like what you see, click on the two drop down menus in the blue bar above the deals. Clicking on Show As “grid” will get you back to the view you’re used to. And on the Order By dropdown, you can still sort by Newest Arrivals and Most Popular, if you prefer those over the new default – Category.
Please let me know what you think about it by commenting on this post or emailing me at Jack (at) Bargain Jack(dot)com. Also, I’m thinking of killing the daily writeup to move more deals to the top of the page. If you feel strongly one way or the other about it, please let me know. It seems like most of you skip reading the commentary and go straight to the deals, but tell me if I’m wrong. Thanks to everyone who has submitted feedback.
Cheers!
Jack

Hi Jack,
I missed the chance to comment on the beta before, but now since you’re asking again i thought i’d put my two cents in.
Firstly, I like how on the one day deals page and on the product info page, you can click right on the buy-it now button to go to the actual page, i wish i could do that from the home page too.
Secondly, while i never read your info at the top before before, i have started to recently here and there. This leads me to say that while i don’t want it to disappear entirely, i wouldn’t mind it being in a side column, or some other space saving area, or simply only update your blog/info when there is really something you want to talk about, not just to be regular day-by-day.
also it seems like sometimes pictures and other info on the one-day deals is often not present, this could be worked on to be more reliable. Also, it seems that there is a decent amount of expired deals on that page, especially from the chainLove bonkTown group. It would help to have these more “real time”.
Thanks, keep up the good work.

I rarely visit the homepage anymore, so I can’t really comment on where things are best located. I use the RSS feed so I hopefully don’t miss any deals. I will say though that I almost always read your write-ups. I have the blog page bookmarked with the sites I visit daily. I don’t usually click through on any of the posts. If the entire post wasn’t displayed, I probably wouldn’t click through to read the rest of the post though. My guess about the homepage is that people read what’s displayed and then go on. It’s what I would probably do.
What is the “chainLove bonkTown group”?

Hey guys,
Just wanted to say thanks for the feedback. If you notice, I’ve updated the site with some more features based on your feedback. For example, you can now click directly to the merchant on a deal by clicking the little >> part of the “more info” button. Some deals don’t have this option, and that’s because these are deals with special instructions.
We’re also now showing the most popular deals in a cool little widget at the top, rather than always posting commentary. While I love to write commentary, I also like to spend my time deal hunting, so I think a healthy balance between a featured write-up every now and then and quality deals is ideal.
Anyway, thanks again for the feedback, and for those of you who emailed us directly as well. If you ever have any ideas, please let me know.
Oh yeah, one last thought, the onedaybuys site is basically running through a deal RSS feed, based on merchants that accept into our one day buys program. I’ll have to see what I can do about merchants with crappy or inaccurate info.
