You know how you’d pick up a $20 bill lying in the middle of the sidewalk (after checking for cameras and fishing line)? It’s instinctive. It’s just the right thing to do. In the same no-brainer club is this Wenger Impulse Notebook Case at a stellar, Best Buy outlet price of just $5.99. The retail price of $35.99 seems very realistic, not hugely inflated or anything. But the sale price is borderline surreal. It fits up to a 15.4″ laptop, it’s rated 5 stars after 4 reviews at Best Buy, it ships for free, and it has the BargainJack stamp of certified awesomeness. What more could a man want? Free shipping? Check and mate.
Or do you have better plans for your six bucks? (more…)
We made it. That’s right, Christmas is over and done. You made it through an entire family viewing of It’s a Wonderful Life while your family’s version of Uncle Eddie slammed beers and made off-color jokes. You opened presents and somehow managed to look happy when you opened grandma’s present–which consisted of a dozen pairs of tighty-whiteys, no doubt. And now it’s time to return back to reality.
After that fiasco, it’s time to treat yourself for a job well done. Not to mention, you probably didn’t get exactly what you wanted for Christmas. What to do… What to do… (more…)
I am usually all action with a minimum of talk. But I’ve been flapping my gums for weeks about being in the market for a new 50″ HDTV. I’ve posted some great deals, been uber-tempted, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I am still debating, but today might be the day on which 50″ LCD glory is mine. They’re not all 50″ TVs, but I found 3 legitimately sweet deals on large LCD HDTVs.
1) As all linguists know, “Bravia” is Latin for “I may never get up from my couch again”. The 46″ Sony BRAVIA V Series KDL46V5100 LCD HDTV is plenty affordable for a Bravia, today only, at Tiger Direct for $989. (more…)
I am a sentimental guy. For instance, when I think back to the Cyber Mondays of years gone by, I wonder why they couldn’t last just one more day. It turns out that Tiger Direct shares my sentimentality and has extended their Cyber Monday Sale through Tuesday. Say it with me: yahtzee!
I love that the prices of Blu-Ray players are dropping faster than my self-esteem on Grey’s Anatomy night. The $109 price that TigerDirect.com is offering today on the Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-Ray Player (1080p, HDMI) is good news for anyone in the market. This normally retails at $200, (more…)
When I was a small boy, I dreamed that one day someone would invent the internet so that I could shop online. And then one Black Friday when I was 9 or 10, I had the idea that maybe after they invented the internet, maybe we could all celebrate a new holiday together called “Cyber Monday” in which the very best deals of online shopping would appear together in a single-day orgy of deal goodness.
Lo and behold! Here we are. My psychic abilities are now your ninja sword in the attack against high prices. (more…)
I know I am not the only guy that trains my stomach before I go to a buffet. There’s an awesome all-you-can eat BBQ place outside of Austin that is an event worthy of training. Several days before I go, I gradually increase my meal size. Then the day before I go, I eat light. Then when I hit The Salt Lick in all of its smoked briskety glory, I eat like a champ.
Black Friday is kind of the same for me. New Egg is running a Pre-Black Friday Sale that I’d equate to a pre-buffet training meal. Personally, I’m looking for a 50″ TV. Will I buy it today? No way. Gotta build up to that on Friday. But today I can do a nice trial run just (more…)
Thanksgiving is changing my wife. She’s all freaked out about hosting a dozen in-laws for Thanksgiving and is dishing out honey-do orders faster than I know how to process. Yesterday I burned the caloric equivalent of a marathon just trying to scratch the surface of her wishlist. Thank God for the silver lining in this season – early Black Friday sales. The early Black Friday sale at JR.com is my favorite pick for today. There are some sweet price cuts on electronics for you and many gift choices for your friends and family.
I play guitar, and any future child I have will be forced likely want to play, too. If I (more…)
“Well hello, Speed Racer. Stay in your car and keep your hands where I can see them. I need to see your license and registration. <looks at driver’s license> Ohhhhhh…you have a German last name. You thought you were on the Autobahn, didntcha?”
“No, officer.”
“Well is there a medical emergency that would explain why I clocked you going 91mph in a 65mph zone?” (more…)
Black Friday is so close that I can almost see lines snaking around Best Buy at 4am, I can almost feel the elbows in my ribs as I reach for the last [insert hot item here], and I can smell that perfect mix of adrenaline, fear, joy and day-old stuffing. But wait…
Best Buy is already running Black Friday sales on 5 LCD HDTVs? Niiiiiiiiice.
If you’re on a budget and cool with 720p rather than 1080p, the Dynex – 32″ Class 720p LCD HDTV is priced to fit at $299.99. It scores 4 stars after 142 reviews so far at Best Buy. The global consensus is that the sound (more…)
Four years ago, my wife upgraded from a purple Sunfire that I refused to be seen driving. We got her a shiny new car THAT IS NOT PURPLE, and she insisted on the built-in nav system. First I laughed at her. I mean, she married a human compass. Then I fought her, because, come on – $1100 for a nav system?! She won. And I will deny ever saying this if confronted, but we’ve used the nav system like crazy. We turn the car on and the nice lady tells us where to go. “Destination is. Ahead. On the left.”
Fast forward four years and her car’s GPS is the s l o w e s t and dumbest GPS on the road, and now all of the maps are old. (more…)
