Now that the holiday treats are safely locked at the bottom of our trash dumpster and my New Year’s hangover is just a memory, today marks the first real day of the new year for me. According to the Chinese zodiac, 2010 is the year of the tiger. GRRrrrrRRRRrr. This works really well for me since I need to get back in shape, and Eye of the Tiger is on every workout playlist I’ve made since the Cold War. If you’re also thinking of getting back to your fighting weight, let’s talk basics. You need a decent scale…like one that will tell your body fat percentage (but not out loud). The Whynter Glass Digital Body Fat & Water Scale, at just $46 at Overstock.com, is very affordable for a scale armed with body fat monitoring. It can handle up to 330 lbs of your ampleness. If you’d rather not know your body fat (more…)
Jackie Fast Eyes is a local celebrity in his section of Jersey. He’s a powerful guy, a funny guy, a connected guy, a guy you don’t wanna mess with. Forgetaboutit. He’s got more cousins than an Amish family, and you don’t want to meet them for the wrong reason. For a while, the streets had been relatively calm around Jackie Fast Eyes and his crew. Then pink eye struck Jackie. Whats-a-matter-wit-my-eye! He couldn’t wear his contacts for a week. His back-up glasses earned him a new nickname: Jackie No Game. Word on the street travels fast and as soon as Jackie caught wind of his new nickname, he started ordering heads on platters. His cousin Tony “The Beef” had to talk some sense into Jackie. “Jackie, you know me. I’d nevah done (more…)

Luong spent all day sitting under an old oak tree. He occasionally tried to distract his thoughts by studying, but everytime his mind seemed to wonder back to Father’s Day. As luck would have it, he could not decide what to get his father for Father’s Day.
In the distance, Luong could see the old hill by the river, with smoke billowing out of the chimney. Luong knew the great Buddhist Monk, Quang, lived there, a wise old sage who could certainly help him with his decision.
So Luong arose from his tree, and set out for the hill.
About 30 minutes later, Luong was in the presence of Quong.
“Oh wise one, I cannot figure out a present for my father.”
Quong responded, “are you threatening me?”
“No of course not, I’m here to ask for your help.”
“Okay, just making sure. Umm, let’s see. Well, to start, I would wonder down the hill to that pile of rocks, and start carrying them one at a time up the hill. Through this you will find peace and resolution to your quest.”
“Uhh, are you serious? Like the myth of Sisyphus?”
Quong reacted surprisingly. “Ahh, so you’ve heard of this? Well crap, usually that does it. Hmm, well I guess I’m going to actually have to help you find a father’s day present.”
Quong continued to rub his chin, and then burst out. “I’ve got it! You must get your father the Jim Beam 9-piece Tailgate BBQ Set with Stool! And you must get him a Whynter Glass Digital Body Fat & Water Scale. This represents the yin and the yang, the balance and harmony of life, the strife between gluttony and accountability, the–”
“Uh, isn’t yin and yang more of a Taoism thing?”
“Crap, you’ve got me again. Well, I gotta go, bye!”
And with that, Quong slammed his door shut. Luong chuckled to himself, amused by the great monk’s antics.
At least Quong had provided him with an idea for Father’s Day.
General Patton continued to study the map. “We have to get some g#$ d#@$ gunners in there. Do whatever it takes!”
The officers surrounding Patton continued to radio the front lines. The entire 66th Armor Regiment was deployed, attempting to secure a strategic building.
Two hours later, the ranking officer in the field, Major Starks, called in on the radio back to Patton: “Sir, we have secured the target and now have complete control. Awaiting further orders.”
Patton yelled, “give me that damn radio and show me the schematic of the building.”
Thirty seconds later, Patton was unfolding the building schematic and preparing to issue instructions.
“Major Starks, this is General Patton. Your orders are as follows:
Proceed through the main entryway and make a left down the first hall. At the end of the hall, you’ll see a giant red door. Go through this door, and turn on the desktop located on the desk.
Immediately pull up your browser and proceed to the following URL:
http://www.bargainjack.com/BargainJack.com-deals-V398/List-of-Memorial-Day-Sale-Events-at-BargainJack.com-64053
Upon reaching this URL, read off the list of Memorial Day sales, because I really need a new set of pants, and perhaps even some sporting goods equipment.”
Major Starks followed orders, and within a few minutes was back on the radio with General Patton.
“Sir, I have obtained the list. It looks like Cabela’s has a 50% off Memorial Day sale, and Backcountry.com has a Memorial Day Sale on tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, and more. There’s also a sale at Uneetee, where you can save 15% with code SVMD15.”
“What about FingerHut?”
“Sir, yes, there’s a sale at FingerHut, with 15% off sitewide using coupon code EF247.”
“Good job, major! We will review your findings and report back with our orders!”
[Happy Memorial Day everyone! And thanks to everyone who serves in the military, and especially those who have sacrificed their lives protecting our freedoms!]
So we’ve been hard at work. We’ve heard your grumblings about the content quality on OneDayBuys.com. While you liked our site design and user interface, you disliked the reliability of our deals and the low number of one day deal sites that we featured.
We took this feedback to heart, and over the last few months have been working hard to fix everything that had been broken about OneDayBuys.com. And today, we’re happy to announce the grand re-opening of OneDayBuys.com!
At OneDayBuys.com, we feature nearly 200 quality one day deal merchants, of which anywhere between 140 and 170 are usually active simultaneously. You can browse all your favorite vendors, from Woot to Steep and Cheap to Atomic Shopping to Uneetee to even major vendors like NewEgg who have a deal of the day.
We really hope you enjoy the new change, and be sure to let us know if it’s useful. We love feedback, both positive and negative.
Enjoy!

Every year I end up undertaking some goofie New Years resolution. Ironically enough, every now and then I actually follow through on it and change my lifestyle in some way that makes me a *cough* better person.
Being the gadget lover that I am, one thing that really helps is to surround myself with gadgets. If I can somehow tie my New Years resolutions to some new gadget I can play with, I’m more likely to meet my goals.
So, with this perspective, and the fact that the overwhelming most popular New Years resolution is fitness, it only makes sense that we should feature a fitness gadget.
The Nautilus Body Fat Analyzer is currently available at Boscov’s for an amazing price of just $8.74. This cool little gadget measures body fat and hydration percent. And it represents a markdown of 89% off the list price of $80! You’ll be hard pressed to find a digital scale anywhere near this price.
So check it out, and good luck with your New Years resolutions!
In the spirit of having a featured item of the day, let’s first start with Amazon’s great deal on Grand Theft Auto IV for the Xbox 360. Normally $60, the price has been slashed to $30, or 50% off the retail price. This also qualifies for free shipping, or in my case, free 2-day shipping with my Amazon Prime account (which came in very handy over Christmas, I might add!).
Now on to the after Christmas sales. There are a ton of great sales going on right now, so rather than writing a blurb about each one, I’m just going to list the sales for your reference.
