Some of you might be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall falling. That’s fine, but let’s take a moment to consider other great achievements. How about no late fees? Uh huh. Today, ladies and gentlemen, I celebrate the joys of Netflix. Right now, they are offering a 2-week free Netflix trial so that you can understand the depth of my happiness. You fill up your queue with your favorite movies and shows, and DVDs are mailed to your home. You return them in postage-paid envelopes. (more…)

As dark clouds billow over central Texas, I’m reminded of the great impact of mother nature. And as the rain begins to pour, I’m also reminded of the fact that, yes, it’s actually a good idea to be inside today.
For days like today, my mind always turns to movies. There’s nothing better than kicking back on a stormy day watching a movie. That’s why today’s featured deals are all about movies. Well, not actually movies, but TV shows. More specificially, these are TV shows on The Discovery Channel.
In case you didn’t know, The Discovery Channel has a store online, where you can purchase many of their great series, such as Planet Earth or Deadliest Catch. In fact, The Discovery Channel has their semi-annual sale going on currently, where you can save up to 75% off DVDs.
One good bet is the Planet Earth Blu-ray Disc Set for $45, or 55% off the regular price of $100. On any item over $25, you can use coupon code EML2009 to save $5. Not to mention, for orders over $50, shipping is free.
Have a great Tuesday!
For those music aficionados, have you ever asked yourself the question, “which band will define this decade?” If you have, there’s no doubt one of the bands on your list for this decade is Coldplay. That’s why today, we’re featuring the free mp3 download of LeftRightLeftRightLeft, a live album featuring nine tracks.
Tomorrow, I’ll be picking up my Apple iPhone 3G S, and can’t wait to load it full of some great mp3s. Certainly this album will probably make the cut, as will a few other Coldplay albums. I’ve finally decided to ditch Sprint and my 2-year-old HTC Mogul. It was a tough decision not to go for the Palm Pre, but with the ridiculously low inventory of the Palm Pre, not to mention the extremely small keyboard and buggy interface, I’ve opted to go with something a little more robust–at least for now.
Have a great rest of the week, and a wonderful Father’s Day.
General Patton continued to study the map. “We have to get some g#$ d#@$ gunners in there. Do whatever it takes!”
The officers surrounding Patton continued to radio the front lines. The entire 66th Armor Regiment was deployed, attempting to secure a strategic building.
Two hours later, the ranking officer in the field, Major Starks, called in on the radio back to Patton: “Sir, we have secured the target and now have complete control. Awaiting further orders.”
Patton yelled, “give me that damn radio and show me the schematic of the building.”
Thirty seconds later, Patton was unfolding the building schematic and preparing to issue instructions.
“Major Starks, this is General Patton. Your orders are as follows:
Proceed through the main entryway and make a left down the first hall. At the end of the hall, you’ll see a giant red door. Go through this door, and turn on the desktop located on the desk.
Immediately pull up your browser and proceed to the following URL:
http://www.bargainjack.com/BargainJack.com-deals-V398/List-of-Memorial-Day-Sale-Events-at-BargainJack.com-64053
Upon reaching this URL, read off the list of Memorial Day sales, because I really need a new set of pants, and perhaps even some sporting goods equipment.”
Major Starks followed orders, and within a few minutes was back on the radio with General Patton.
“Sir, I have obtained the list. It looks like Cabela’s has a 50% off Memorial Day sale, and Backcountry.com has a Memorial Day Sale on tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, and more. There’s also a sale at Uneetee, where you can save 15% with code SVMD15.”
“What about FingerHut?”
“Sir, yes, there’s a sale at FingerHut, with 15% off sitewide using coupon code EF247.”
“Good job, major! We will review your findings and report back with our orders!”
[Happy Memorial Day everyone! And thanks to everyone who serves in the military, and especially those who have sacrificed their lives protecting our freedoms!]
“Benson! I’ve had enough! You’re fired!”
With that, Benson hung his head low, ashamed that he’d disappointed Mr. Scroggins, and returned to his quarters in the east wing of the home.
“Damnit. Now I gotta go find a Mother’s Day present on my own. And Mother’s Day is… <GULP>… HOLY CRAP! IT’S TODAY! What on earth am I ever going to do?”
Scroggins was panicked, when suddenly Benson re-appeared in the doorway.
“Mr. Scroggins, don’t panic. I have it covered.”
“But Benson, you just said you had forgotten it’s Mother’s Day.”
Benson thought for a second.
“I know. I’m ashamed to have called myself your chief servant. But alas, I must make it up to you.
We can get Mrs. Scroggins a gift subscription to Angie’s List! She’s always wanted to redecorate her power
room. Or, what about a Restaurant.com gift certificate?”
“Even though it’s Sunday? You can still get it in time?–No, no” replied Scroggins. “We make too much money to buy gift certificates. That would be improper. Imagine if George and Sara saw Mother using a gift certificate down at the country club?”
Benson responded “Then what about a Netflix Movie subscription? Mrs. Scroggins loves to watch the movies in the media room!”
“Hey now that’s a great idea!” exclaimed Scroggins.
“Or we could get her a Wine of the Month club subscription at Wine.com!”
“Excellent idea, Benson!”
Scroggins thought for a second. “You know Benson, as much as you piss me off, you always seem to come through! Why ‘ole jolly chap, why don’t you stay on. I’m sorry I yelled. And give yourself a raise. You deserve it!”
