I love a good cold front. Today Austin drops to a frigid 61 degrees. Time to chop firewood. And firewood reminds me of 2 things: 1) I wanted to be a lumberjack when I grew up and 2) the holidays. My hopes of lumberjackery have been vanquished by The Man, but I’ll be damned if they can take my holiday spirit away from me! …cold dead hands, etc, etc. And with the holidays coming up, special moments will beg to be captured by a 12 megapixel camera with 12x zoom. The Canon Powershot SX200 IS Digital Camera is my current pick in the 12ish megapixel category. With 12.1 Megapixel, 12x Optical Zoom, a 3.0″ LCD display, and the ability to shoot video, this is a sweet and powerful package at $299.99 at TigerDirect. (It retails at $350.) The camera capabilities definitely trounce the point-and-shoot no-zoom-allowed video functionality, but it’s a camera, afterall. The 12x zoom kind of blows my mind for this small of a camera. Imagine how far you could stay away from Aunt Lucille on Christmas while still capturing her hot pink lipstick with high detail. It’s like a dream. And your children will know how much you love them when you are able to show them pics of themselves in pore-perfect detail. “See Johnny, this is when you and Daddy went to chop wood. Look, I can see 3 splinters in your left hand. Do you still want to be a lumberjack, Johnny?”
Hey Johnny, my two cents: lumberjacks > ninjas.
