6pm.com, sister company of Zappos, recently had a price glitch where every item on their site was capped at a price of $49.95–that’s right, everything. The pricing error was live on their site from midnight until 6 a.m. on 5/21.
Six hours and $1.6M in losses later, 6pm.com realized the mistake and quickly fixed it. However, the damage had already been done.
Surprisingly enough, 6pm.com decided to honor the price on their site, even if it did cost them $1.6M. How’s that for customer service?
Here’s to 6pm.com and Zappos for placing value on their customers instead of their wallets!

After feedback from you guys, I’ve made some tweaks to the site and hope that you like them. You can now easily see the latest deals in each category, and it’s easier to ignore deals from categories that you don’t care about. If you “don’t” like what you see, click on the two drop down menus in the blue bar above the deals. Clicking on Show As “grid” will get you back to the view you’re used to. And on the Order By dropdown, you can still sort by Newest Arrivals and Most Popular, if you prefer those over the new default – Category.
Please let me know what you think about it by commenting on this post or emailing me at Jack (at) Bargain Jack(dot)com. Also, I’m thinking of killing the daily writeup to move more deals to the top of the page. If you feel strongly one way or the other about it, please let me know. It seems like most of you skip reading the commentary and go straight to the deals, but tell me if I’m wrong. Thanks to everyone who has submitted feedback.
Cheers!

I’m constantly looking for creative ways to bring BargainJack to the masses. The more people who visit this wasteland, the more we smile; and the more we smile, the more time we spend finding great deals and improving our content.
With that, we are looking for suggestions on great new contests for BargainJack. If you have an idea related to increasing exposure for BargainJack, or increasing activity on certain parts of the site like our forums, etc., please let us know! We love to give away free stuff, and more often than not, we can find a willing victim partner through our extensive merchant relationships to work with us on a cool prize!
