Discover a Decrease in Gas Prices

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Discover More CardThis certainly isn’t the first time we’ve featured the Discover Card as our deal of the day. But with oil busting through $143, it’s becoming a necessary way of life to find ways to save on gas prices.

That’s why the Discover More Card is a perfect fit for the budget-conscious consumer. With up to 5% cashback on purchases such as gas, groceries, restaurants, and department stores, plus up to 1% cashback on other purchases, makes this an outstanding option to save you money. Not to mention you get $0 fraud liability and no annual fee.

I use my Discover Card everywhere I go, and just recently cashed in around $1,000 in cashback savings that I’ve accumulated over the last few years. It’s free money, and while it won’t completely get rid of the aggravation at the gas pumps, it will certainly help soften the blow.

SanDisk Sansa Saturday Sale: Super!

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

SanDisk Sansa e250 2 GB MP3 Player with microSD Expansion Slot (Black)Are you looking for a second mp3 player for working out? Maybe you’d like one while you’re mowing the yard or doing chores around the house, so that you don’t mess up your fancy mack daddy iPod. If that’s the case, check out Amazon. They have an awesome deal on the SanDisk Sansa e250 2 GB MP3 Player with microSD Expansion Slot (Black). At only $32.95 with free shipping, that’s 84% off the retail price of $200.

This mp3 player comes with 2GB on board, plus a microSD expansion slot which will enable you to add another 8GB worth of music or audiobooks. And I’m hearing the 16GB cards are just around the corner.

Keep in mind this is sold through Beach Camera, so you don’t get the normal free shipping over $25 offer from Amazon. Still, this is an awesome deal worth checking out.

Be an Xbox Hero

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Xbox 360 Premium SystemBe an Xbox hero, with stars in your eyes.  At Buy.com, you can pick up a refurbished Xbox 360 Premium System for an awesome price of $199.99.  Yes, you heard right, that’s an Xbox 360 for $150 below retail price, and seeing that these things are pretty much selling at retail price everywhere, that’s an absolutely amazing deal.

Buy.com still has inventory, which is surprising to me, seeing that it was the top seller across the entire Buy.com site yesterday.  They must have a pretty strong inventory of these.  Also, check out the Google checkout offer.  If it’s your first time using Google checkout, you can save an additional $10 on your purchase, bringing that sweet total into absolute insanity at $189.99.

Enjoy!

Bargain Shopping… At What Price?!?

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Bargain shopping can take many forms.  It can involve messy mail-in rebates, or refurbished products, open boxed items, and so forth.  It can involve secret handshakes with the guy behind the counter to qualify for that “secret” discount.  Or, in some cases, it can require the purchase of outdated and/or inaccurate clothing.

Cedric Benson Chicago Bears White NFL Replica JerseyTake, for example, a Chicago Bears fan.  Now obviously, as a Bears fan, you’d probably love to get your hands on a Bears jersey for 50% off.  But what if it was a Cedric Benson Chicago Bears White NFL Replica Jersey?  Yeah that Cedric Benson, the one that was cut from the team after getting pepper-sprayed on Lake Travis following a citation for boating while intoxicated.

Or how about commemorating that historic run by the Duke Blue Devils 2008 NCAA Tournament T-ShirtDuke Blue Devils in the 2008 NCAA tournament?  Yeah you know, the one where they they had a case of premature elimination by losing to 7th seed West Virginia in the second round?  Yes, you too can consecrate the adventure with your very own Duke Blue Devils 2008 NCAA Tournament T-Shirt.

Atlanta Falcons Crossover Flannel PantsOr maybe you’re looking for something a little more fashionable, and something to impress the chicks.  Of course, what else other than the Atlanta Falcons Crossover Flannel Pants?  These are impressive, and no, please don’t hesitate to wear them out in public.

Whatever the case, we have to go to great lengths sometimes to save a buck or two.

Enjoy!

Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop

Update: deal is dead, sorry to those who missed out.

Today, Dell has an awesome deal running on the Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop.  This hot piece of desktop comes with the Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600, complete with 8MB of L2 cache and a 1066MHz FSB.  It’s also one of the few systems at Dell that actually comes with Windows XP.  While I’m not necessarily anti-Vista, I’ve heard enough horror stories that I opted to stick with Windows XP SP3 on my most recent desktop upgrade, mainly for gaming compatibility.

With this system, you’ll also get 3GB DDR2 SDRAM, 500GB SATA HD, 16X DVD+-RW, integrated video via the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100, 7.1 channel audio, and even keyboard + mouse.  There’s no monitor included in the package, but you can always upgrade, or use an old monitor if you’re on a tight budget.

Enjoy!

Everybody’s Doin’ the Brand New Dance Now

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Wireless Laser MediaPlayer MouseEverybodys doin the brand new dance now,
Come on baby, do the cordless motion…
I know you’ll get to like it if you give it a chance now,
Come on baby, do the cordless motion…

My little baby sister can do it with ease,
It’s easier than learnin your abc,
So come on, come on, do the cordless motion with me…

We already have enough cords in our life.  Why would you ever choose to continue that trend, especially when you can get cordless products like the Wireless Laser MediaPlayer Mouse for a chugga-chugga price of just $10 after mail-in rebate?

This mouse shows up on Amazon for about $50, Circuit City for around $40.  With 8 buttons, tilt scroll wheel, and Vista/Media Player buttons, along with buttons specifically for zooming in and out over a 2.4 GHz wireless interface, this mouse really does have it all.  You can also get up to 1600 dpi resolution on the mouse, making it respectable for gaming.  The only downside is, it discriminates against lefties like myself with the button placement.  I’m thinking class action lawsuit.

Oh well, it’s obviously time to celebrate.  Hit it, Grand Funk Railroad!

Now that you can do it, well let’s make a chain now
Come on, baby, do the cordless motion
A chugga-chugga motion like a railroad train now
Come on, baby, do the corded motion

BargainJack.com Re-Launch & OneDayBuys.com Official Launch

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

So it’s Monday morning and you’re drinking your morning coffee while checking your email, surfing the web, hitting your RSS feeds, etc.  You happen across a bargainjack deal in your RSS reader, click the deal to see more, and suddenly–”WOAH, WHAT THE ****!  WHO’S THIS CRAZY CARTOON CHARACTER STARING AT ME!”

That’s right, it’s our brand new site redesign.  We’ve taken it up a notch, or perhaps several notches, with our brand new re-launch of BargainJack.  Features include inline commenting on deals, voting, blogging, a new and improved forum, advanced sorting and categorization, and our personal favorite, tabbed navigation between the various deal sites!

Along with the re-launch, we’ve also spun off a new site using the same web engine as BargainJack and BargainJill.  We felt the One Day Deals link on the old BargainJack had outgrown it’s spot as a one-page wonder, so we’ve spun it off into a new and exciting site called OneDayBuys.com!  Be sure to check it out and subscribe to our newsletters and RSS feeds.

And please, please, please help spread the word about our new site.

For a complete overview of the new features in the site, check out BargainJill TV Episode 11.

Enjoy!

New One Day Deals Site + BargainJack Re-Launch

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

After months and months of torture and agony, the new site is ready to go!  We hope you enjoy it as much as we’ve <cough> enjoyed developing it </cough>.

Some of the exciting new features in the site include:

  • New look and feel (obviously)
  • Interactive commenting on all of the individual product pages, so you can comment live on the deals!
  • Voting functionality added for each deal
  • Featured daily deal is now styled in wordpress, allowing users to comment on the write-up
  • Improved categorization functionality, allowing you to quickly narrow in on the types of products you’re looking for
  • Better filters for getting rid of the deals you don’t want to see, such as mail-in rebate deals or deals without free shipping
  • New and improved forum based on vbulletin
  • One login to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them: use your single login for commenting in the blog, or posting messages in our forum
  • BargainJack TV! (coming soon)
  • Product recommendations as you browse particular products
  • Separate one day deals site: http://www.onedaybuys.com

And probably several other little details that I forgot to mention, including some under-the-hood functionality that allows us to support the site and our content better.

We really hope you enjoy the new look and functionality as much as we do.  We know our previous site, though intuitive and successful, was a bit of an eye-sore and didn’t have all the great features we now enjoy.

If you have any issues, problems, or concerns, please feel free to let us know!

Going Off Grid with the Keen Menlo Park Pack

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

Keen Menlo Park PackSometimes the stress of life is just too much. Between work, family, responsibilities, and so many other things, sometimes it all comes to a head.

Some of us deal with this be escaping to a beach getaway, or maybe even a cruise. Others will choose to head to the mountains, or maybe a trip to the lake. And then there’s trekking.

No, I’m not talking about a weekend getaway to a Star Wars convention. No, it’s much more interesting than that. Trekking is defined as multi-day hiking trip through rural, rugged areas, typically with very little structure or planning. Essentially, as a trekker, your goal is just to keep moving, and occasionally grabbing food along the way from berry trees or whatever life gives you.

So with that, if you plan on doing some trekking in your future, you might want to check out the Keen Menlo Park Pack at REI. On sale for today only, you can get this $85 backpack for a great price of only $35. Keep in mind that the trekking purists might tell you that the only thing you can take is the shirt on your back.

Also, while it’s not applicable to this particular product, REI also has a great 15% off coupon. Just use coupon code MKHJG2 at checkout.

Enjoy!
