George tried not to flinch as he received these instructions, knowing that the boss didn’t need a situation–not this late in the game.
Quickly, George and a couple of his cronies pulled the covered body onto the back of the flat-bottom aluminum boat. They knew they only had a couple of hours, as it would start to turn light and the area fishermen would begin showing up.
One of the men pulled the starter on the outboard motor. Nothing. He tried again. Still nothing.
After several minutes of priming and then pulling the starter, it was obvious this was going nowhere. The boss had already left with his entourage, making George the ranking member.
“Forget this piece of crap boat,” announced George. “Hurry, grab your keys, there’s a Cabella’s down the road.”
Forty-five minutes later, they were launching their brand new $150 Classic Accessories Cimarron Pontoon Boat, and the plan was carried out.
Off in the distance, a local fisherman puffed quietly on his cigarette, not quite sure what to think of the situation he just saw unfold.
